I have been practicing art since I was a kid. My early works were primarily pencil drawings of astronauts and spaceships. I also did quite few drawings of Christ on the cross. Later I graduated to painting, collage, sculpture, assemblage, photography, poetry and music. Generally my work gravitates toward surrealism in the sense of the technique they called "pure psychic automism" but which I think can be better described as a kind of intuition driven improvisation. Though I do put a certain amount of thought and planning into my work, when it comes down to it I generally get out of the way and let things happen as they will. When I'm working on drawing or a painting I never know what I'm going to do until I'm doing it. I am also very attracted to abstract expressionism which is an extention of surrealist techniques and involves surrendering to the energetic and creative impulses flowing in and around us.
Some of my favorite artists are Pollack, Gorky, Miro, Ernst, Duchamp, De Kooning, Van Gogh, Gaugin, Bouguereau, Diebenkorn, Turner, Dali. I also like art by the artist previously known as Captain Beefheart (Don Van Vliet) and filmaker David Lynch.
